Did you know that the International Space Station (or ISS) is the largest and most complex international scientific project in history?

The ISS is currently the largest man-made (or artificial) satellite orbiting Earth. It was designed and built in space using the combined resources of 16 countries. It took 11 years and about $100 billion to build.

It serves as a research facility in which scientists can conduct experiments in biology, physiology, physics, astronomy and meteorology that can't be done on Earth.
