The WISE Environment - Slide 3 of 9 |
![]() |
The Inquiry Process Each project in WISE is divided into several main activities, which are in turn divided into a series of shorter activities called inquiry steps. Students navigate the project by clicking the inquiry step buttons, which bring up curriculum content in the evidence window. Arrows point the way to what happens next. There is no "getting lost" in the web when using WISE. No matter many links you follow, you can return to your place in the WISE project by clicking on the inquiry steps. Also constant in the browser window is a button box where students can get hints, show all work they have done so far, and return to the Student Portal (the student entrance to WISE). |

WISE guides inquiry. Top: The button box for hints and showing all work. Bottom: Inquiry steps from the "Drink or Swim?" project. Each button designates a different activity: reading, examining water quality data in the Data Viewer, taking reflection notes, and participating in an on-line discussion. |
