WISE Teaching Concerns - Slide 2 of 6 |
| How can I fit WISE into my curriculum? WISE projects are designed as capstone activities; WISE is not a full, year-long curriculum. WISE is meant to supplement or replace parts of a teacher's science curriculum. Because the projects are interdisciplinary and deal with real-world application of skills, they make good projects to use at the end of a unit of study, to help students integrate their new knowledge into a meaningful framework. In the WISE Project Library, teachers (and other WISE members) can find a description of what students need to know before working on a particular project. This can help teachers figure out which units in their current curriculum could be made more effective with the addition of a WISE project. Teachers should spend some time exploring the available projects, to see which ones fit with the subjects they teach. | |
| Finding the best fit: Mr. K, a middle school science teacher, goes over lesson plans in the Project Library to decide which WISE projects would be most appropriate for his students. |
